Canal Cocotte is one of the waterways connecting Génipa Bay to the Ducos area through the mangrove. It follows the former course of the Lézarde River, before the river was diverted farther north in the twentieth century.
Waterways like this once gave the commune access to the sea and supported fishing and leisure activities. They were also used to move goods through the mangrove, including rum barrels from the Dillon distillery.
